Darlene M. (Engler) Schafer

Darlene M. Schafer, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek, WI.  She was born February 6, 1932, in Wabasha, MN, the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Marie (Hartman) Engler.  She was united in marriage to LaVerne F. Schafer on January 10, 1954. They created a beautiful life together and were each other’s lifelong companions until he passed away in 1990.  They loved to dance together and can now dance together again. Darlene was a member of the First Ev. Lutheran Church of Elkhorn and loved going to church. She also enjoyed her travel club and visiting new places. She also enjoyed playing bingo, watching t.v., sweets and spending time with her loving family and friends.

Darlene is survived by her three children, Kerry Schafer, David (Sandy) Schafer, and Tammy (Alex) Pena; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and sister, Sharon Olson. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, son, Rickey, son-in-law, Keith, two brothers, Gale and Gene Engler, sister, Ione Phillips and daughter in law, Peggy Schafer.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the First Ev. Lutheran Church, 415 Devendorf St. Elkhorn, WI, 53121.

A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 415 Devendorf St. Elkhorn, at 2:00PM.  Visitation will be at church from 12:00PM until the time of service.  Entombment will follow services at Roselawn Memory Gardens.  Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory completed arrangements for the Schafer Family.  Online guest book available at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
